01Book the Castle for the first slot
Entry is timed. The 09:30 slot is the only one that feels unhurried, and it leaves the rest of the morning for the Royal Mile.
02Arthur's Seat needs two hours
The climb is short but exposed. Wind above 40 km/h makes the summit unpleasant — check the forecast the night before.
03Day trips leave early
Glasgow is 50 minutes by train, Stirling 55. Both work as day trips if you leave before 09:00.
